The Central Michigan Chippewas beat their long-time rival, the Western Michigan Broncos 26-22 at their home field in Mount Pleasant, MI Friday night at their last home game of the season.
Both teams kept the interest of their fans by not making the game too predictable. It really could have went either way, since both the Chipps and the Broncos held the lead at different times throughout the game.
Since I was fortunate enough to attend the game, I not only got to see an exciting game of football, but also feel the energy of the team- and boy, was there a lot of it.
In the fourth quarter, the Chippewas had their fans at the edge of their seats praying for the team to pull through for a victory, and they did not disappoint. CMU scored 2 touchdowns bringing the score to 26-22 for a hometown victory.
Along with the great accomplishment of defeating WMU, three players of the CMU football team have been named to the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first team.
The Chippewas next game will be Saturday, Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m. against Navy in Annapolis, Md.
